Lisa Garcia, formerly the Assistant US Trade Representative for Intergovernmental Affairs and Public Engagement, has agreed to serve as the new Chief of Staff at USTR. "As Chief of Staff, Lisa will help guide USTR's work to open new markets, enforce our trade rights, and eliminate barriers to American exports. I am grateful for her integrity, her dedication, and her creativity and I know that under her leadership, USTR will continue to provide the benefits of trade - good jobs, fair prices, and increased consumer choices - to American workers and families," said USTR Kirk. Prior to joining USTR, Lisa was Principal of her own strategic and political consulting firm in Austin and served in the office of US Senator John Kerry as well as on the Kerry-Edwards 2004 campaign. She also worked for Texas elected officials and a variety of Texas political campaigns and initiatives, bringing over 15 years of experience in national and state Legislative oversight, national initiatives, corporate governmental and public affairs to USTR.
