AWPA has joined the Council of Manufacturing Associations, a division within the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), Government Relations Committee. The purpose of the GR Committee is to help NAM develop strategies and tactics for advocating a pro-manufacturing agenda, and expand the grassroots involvement of manufacturers across the country. By becoming a member, AWPA has access to information about the committee's plans and meetings, including quarterly breakfasts with NAM President John Engler, an NAM-led initiative to win over key US Senators on key legislation, and a 2005 series of forums on manufacturing goals on Capitol Hill.
