The US Senate formally confirmed President Bush's nomination of former West Virginia Public Service Commission Chairwoman Charlotte Lane to the International Trade Commission (ITC). Lane will now serve until 2009 on the Commission. President Bush originally nominated Lane in March 2002. Her confirmation was held up in part because senators wanted Bush to pledge he would also nominate someone who had an agricultural background. Bush then reappointed Lane as a recess appointment, a technical maneuver that allowed her to serve through the end of this year.
