A great time was had by all who came to Rancho Mirage, California to celebrate AWPA's 20th Anniversary. Not only was the room filled to capacity with current AWPA member company representatives, but also joining in the event were three past presidents. Two other past presidents
sent personalized messages to the membership.
Special recognition awards were given to individuals who have been active in the association throughout its two decades of existence. Four founding members - those individuals who signed the original letters of consolidation between the Independent Wire Producers Association and the Specialty Wire
Producers Association twenty years ago - received awards. These individuals were: Doug King who signed on behalf of Walker Wire (and now owns American Rod Consumers); Larry Selhorst of American Spring Wire Corporation; C.D. Dickson of Weatherproof Nail Company, and John Mueller from Laidlaw Corporation. Fred Waite, AWPA's General Counsel was also honored for his service to the association for more than 20 years.

and AWPA's current president, gave some of the history of the AWPA. In addition, a slide show was developed which provided a visual Retrospective that included memorable moments over the last twenty years. This slide show will be posted on the website (www.awpa.org) and can be viewed in Microsoft Power Point.
Finally, for those who missed the celebration or for those who want a memento of the evening, a conference video was produced highlighting the events of the 20th anniversary, including priceless interviews with attendees. All in all, a fabulous time was had by all. After all, a twenty-year celebration is quite a remarkable achievement!
