Finance Committee Approves ITC Commissioners |
The Senate Finance Committee recently approved by voice vote the appointments of Daniel Pearson and Charlotte Lane to the International Trade Commission (ITC). Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D-WV) cast the only vote against Pearson and issued a long
indictment against the administration's steel policies.
Lane is currently serving as a public service commissioner in West Virginia. She has practiced law in Charleston for 25 years and is a former member of the West Virginia House of Delegates. She was quoted as saying she has always been involved in
"recognizing the importance of keeping steel companies in West Virginia competitive."
Pearson is currently serving as Assistant Vice President for Public Affairs of Cargill, Inc. He has been a policy analyst in Cargill's public affairs department since 1987, focusing primarily on trade policy issues. In the 1980's Pearson was a
legislative assistant for agriculture in the Senate.
