Appoints Chief Counsel for China

USTR Susan Schwab announced the appointment
of a chief counsel for China trade enforcement
and the creation of an intellectual property
office. Claire Reade will hold the China
position, which was created as part of
USTR's top-to-bottom review of US-China
trade relations.
Reade will coordinate USTR's efforts
to ensure China's compliance with its
international trade commitments, particularly
its WTO obligations and the commitments
that China has made within the US-China
Joint Commission on Commerce and Trade.
She also will co-chair USTR's newly formed
China Enforcement Task Force. Previously,
Reade was a senior partner at the law
firm of Arnold & Porter,
where she has been an international trade
litigator since 1982.
