USTR Susan Schwab announced the appointment of a chief counsel for China trade enforcement and the creation of an intellectual property office. Claire Reade will hold the China position, which was created as part of USTR's top-to-bottom review of US-China trade relations.

Reade will coordinate USTR's efforts to ensure China's compliance with its international trade commitments, particularly its WTO obligations and the commitments that China has made within the US-China Joint Commission on Commerce and Trade. She also will co-chair USTR's newly formed China Enforcement Task Force. Previously, Reade was a senior partner at the law firm of Arnold & Porter, where she has been an international trade litigator since 1982.
