AWPA Joins PR Effort
|
On another front in fighting the AD and CVD rod cases, AWPA and other respondents mounted a proactive public relations effort in an attempt to sway public opinion against further restrictions on rod imports. Before the ITC vote, an AWPA Press Release was sent providing information on the harm which would be done to the wire industry by imposing further restrictions on imports of wire rod. Following the vote, another AWPA Press Release was sent expressing our disappointment and extreme concern about the adverse and devastating impact these tariffs will have on US wire and wire products manufacturers.
Several AWPA member company representatives also met with a local PR firm to tell their stories on how their small businesses are hurting right now, and what the additional tariffs will do to them and their employees.
In the end, AWPA and its member companies were quoted in several major newspapers including the Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Dow Jones International News, Associated Press, St. Louis-Dispatch, Crain's Cleveland Business, and American Metal Market.
Thanks goes to those AWPA member company representatives who took press calls and assisted in this effort.
