Airport information
The airport that serves the Los Cabos area, including the cities of Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo, is the Los Cabos Airport—SJD. Make sure to book your flight as soon as possible to ensure availability. The airport is 20 min North of San José del Cabo, ~40 min East of Cabo San Lucas, and ~40 min from the Grand Fiesta Americana hotel.
Airport transfer (and other transportation information)
Please note: your registration does not include transportation between the airport and hotel. You can reserve your transfer here, at a rate which we have arranged through a local company. Private vehicle rates start at $115 one-way, and include 16% tax, airport fees, and toll fees. You will be met at the SJD International Airport with a welcome sign that has our annual meeting event logo.
Note: DO NOT BOOK TRANSPORTATION FROM THE HOTEL. The free airport transfer listed on the hotel website is only for individual reservations. If you make an individual reservation that is not within our discounted group block, you will not be able to take part in our conference events and meals.
Note 2: Uber is allowed and available throughout Los Cabos, and can drop guests off at hotels, however is not allowed to pick up passengers at the airport (a Federal zone), or from hotels. You may take a taxi or other shuttle if you prefer, however we do recommend pre-booking your transfer to and from the airport and hotel to make it easier and save time.
Currency
It is not required to do any currency exchange, as U.S. Dollars are widely accepted in Los Cabos. Many ATMs have an option to choose Dollars or Pesos, but credit cards are widely accepted as well.
Dinner Reservations
There are many restaurants on hotel property, however, those included in the all-inclusive rate do not allow for reservations. If you'd like to make a reservation for dinner during your nights in Los Cabos, feel free to book a table at one of the Rosa Negra restaurants ahead of time. This is a local restaurant group with many types of restaurants, which have been given advance notice of our group's attendance, and are ready for your reservations. Reminder: Our Tuesday evening event, Fiesta Under the Stars, will be an event you won't want to miss, so don't book any reservations for that night. We'll have lots of food, drink, and fun waiting for you!
Language
While Spanish is the primary language, English is commonly spoken in hotels, stores, and tourist areas.
Passport
A valid passport book is required to enter Mexico by air (rather than a passport card, which only allows you to cross the border by land). Check your passport expiration date now! Passport processing times have fluctuated throughout the year—As of December 18, 2023, routine applications have been processed in 6-8 weeks and expedited appications in 2-3 weeks. Do note that does not include the time to send the application and receive a new passport in the mail.
Weather
Los Cabos averages more than 350 days of sunshine a year! February temperatures average near 80°F for a high and 60°F for the low. In other words, it's nearly perfect!
