Section 301 Global Overcapacity Investigation

Our Counsel, Beth Johnson, will be preparing draft comments on behalf of the AWPA regarding the U.S. Trade Representative (“USTR’s”) Section 301 investigation into global production overcapacity in various sectors, including steel. We will be asking that wire and wire products be included in any trade remedies implemented under this investigation.

Countries Under Investigation

The USTR has identified the following countries which are subject to this investigation: China, the European Union, Singapore, Switzerland, Norway, Indonesia, Malaysia, Cambodia, Thailand, Korea, Vietnam, Taiwan, Bangladesh, Mexico, Japan, and India.

We Need Your Feedback

We would like feedback as to which of these countries should be targeted in the AWPA’s comments. Each country targeted should include information on production capacity in that country, so if you have information on producers/capacity in the target countries, please send that along. If you have public information regarding the harm to the domestic wire industry as a result of overcapacity in/imports from these countries, please send that as well.

Deadline: April 15, 2026

All comments are due to the USTR by April 15, 2026, so the sooner you can provide this feedback, the better.

Please send any comments and information to Beth Johnson at ejohnson@kelleydrye.com.

We also encourage any companies interested to submit individual comments. Information on that can be found here.
