AD Order on Wire Rod from Mexico – Preliminary Determination in Circumvention Investigation

The US Department of Commerce (DOC) has announced its preliminary determination in the circumvention investigation of the antidumping (AD) order on carbon and certain alloy steel wire rod from Mexico.

The DOC has preliminarily determined that imports of carbon and certain alloy steel wire rod with an actual diameter less than 4.75 mm produced and/or exported by Deacero S.A.P.I. de C.V. (Deacero) are circumventing the AD order on wire rod from Mexico.

The DOC will direct US Customs and Border Protection to suspend liquidation and to require a cash deposit of AD duties (12.56%) on imports of wire rod with an actual diameter less than 4.75 mm produced and/or exported by Deacero which were entered on or after February 7, 2018 – the date of initiation of this circumvention investigation.

We expect that the DOC will complete this investigation in four months or less.
