AWPA Industry Voices
Member Spotlight: Mike Carroll, Accent
At AWPA, we believe the future of the wire industry depends on the people leading it forward every day. Through AWPA Industry Voices, we’re highlighting the perspectives, experiences, and leadership shaping the North American wire industry.
This month’s spotlight features Mike Carroll, Chief Supply Chain Officer at Accent, a leading manufacturer and distributor of waste baling wire, equipment, and parts for the recycling industry, as well as a provider of packaging solutions. In his role, Mike draws on decades of experience across manufacturing, sales, operations, and supply chain management to help guide the company through an increasingly complex business environment.
According to Mike, today’s wire industry continues to face significant challenges as companies adapt to rising costs and market uncertainty. Trade impacts, energy expenses, and freight volatility have created pressure throughout the supply chain, requiring businesses to remain agile while continuing to meet customer expectations.
For Accent, one of the biggest challenges is managing these increased costs in a highly competitive marketplace. “We’re constantly balancing rising expenses with the need to remain competitive for our customers,” Mike explained. Maintaining that balance requires operational discipline, strategic decision-making, and a continued focus on building strong customer relationships.
Mike sees AWPA as an important resource in helping companies navigate these challenges. He points to the association’s industry data, trade advocacy efforts, and networking opportunities as key benefits that help members better understand market conditions and prepare for future developments.
“One of the greatest values of AWPA is bringing the industry together,” Mike said. “The opportunity to share insights, understand market trends, and have a collective voice on issues that impact our businesses is more important today than ever before.”
Looking ahead, Mike believes differentiation will be critical to success over the next three to five years. As competition continues to intensify, companies will need to distinguish themselves through exceptional service, consistent quality, and strong customer partnerships. While pricing will always be a factor, he believes long-term growth will increasingly be driven by the value companies provide beyond the product itself.
Mike’s perspective is shaped by nearly four decades in the wire industry. He began his career in wire products almost 40 years ago and spent much of that time working in sales of wire products and wire rod. His experience also includes leading a wire mill with responsibility for both sales and operations, giving him a unique understanding of the business from multiple angles. Today, as Chief Supply Chain Officer at Accent, he applies that broad industry knowledge to help navigate a rapidly evolving marketplace.
As the industry continues to change, Mike remains optimistic about the opportunities ahead. Companies that embrace innovation, maintain high standards of quality, and strengthen relationships with customers and industry partners will be best positioned for success. Despite ongoing market challenges, he believes organizations that focus on delivering superior value will continue to find opportunities for growth.
Through AWPA Industry Voices, AWPA is proud to spotlight the members and companies helping strengthen and advance the wire industry across North America.
