AWPA leadership traveled to Washington, D.C., in June to continue building relationships with congressional offices and senior trade officials while advancing the priorities of the U.S. steel wire industry.

During the one-day fly-in, AWPA met with the offices of Representatives Pat Harrigan (NC) and Matt Van Epps (TN), as well as senior officials from the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) and the White House Office of Trade and Manufacturing Policy. The meetings focused on strengthening relationships, reinforcing AWPA’s support for effective trade enforcement, and providing industry expertise on issues affecting domestic wire manufacturers.

Perhaps the most significant outcome of the day was the relationships that continue to develop. AWPA was encouraged by the level of engagement from Administration officials, who welcomed the association’s balanced, fact-based approach and expressed interest in maintaining an ongoing dialogue. These conversations position AWPA as a trusted resource on issues affecting the steel wire industry and create opportunities for continued engagement as trade policy evolves.

The June fly-in reflects AWPA’s long-term government affairs strategy: building credibility, educating policymakers, and ensuring the steel wire industry’s perspective is represented whenever important trade decisions are made. The Government Relations Action Committee (GRAC) will continue evaluating member priorities and developing recommendations for future advocacy efforts.
